In court, on 2 May 2019, the Council plead guilty to the offence for failing to ensure that a child being educated and cared for by the service was adequately supervised at all times.
Educators noticed the missing child at around 5:10 pm and started searching the school grounds. Half an hour later, the child returned to the service along with their mother.
The incident was reported by the Council themselves to the NSW Department Of Education and an investigation commenced.
Ever since the incident had occurred, the Council had made a significant effort to restructure the physical environment and its policies and procedures to prevent a similar incident from occurring.
