The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital has introduced a $175 000 camera system that enables parents to watch their premature babies while they are at home.

Parents can log into the webcam from home and see their babies in the nursery. It gives parents a sense of relief and comfort knowing their baby is being cared for.

The Royal Prince Alfred hospital is the first Sydney hospital to use this technology and has been embraced by parents.

The system, which cost $175,000, was funded by donations.

Parents are given a secure login to the webcam and can also allow friends or relatives to access the system.

Almost all parents who have a baby in the nursery have signed up for it.
