The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee has released a statement about COVID- 19 in children and early childhood services. They have suggested recommendations and measures put in place for services, while they continue to operate within the community during the coronavirus pandemic.

NSW Health has confirmed that a childcare centre in Blacktown, in western Sydney, has been identified as a hotspot for the coronavirus with both staff and children infected.

Around one million families are set to receive free child care during the coronavirus pandemic under a plan from the Morrison Government that will help deliver relief and support to the early childhood education and care industry.
